Nenad Medic wins event #1 and Hillary still has blinders on

Published by rdmd97 at 12:33 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Nenad Medic beat my sentimental favorite, Andy Bloch, heads up for the bracelet in event number 1, the $10,000 pot limit holdem event.  They call Nenad “The Serb” obviously because he’s Serbian.  Get this though, he lives in Canada and if you’ve ever heard him speak he sounds American!  He is a great player no matter where he’s from though.  Now speaking of Andy Bloch, he runs…. or used to run I should say… a website called wptfan.com.  Wptfan came alive back in 2003 and I joined in the end of 2004 and was actually the first website that I was a regular posting member on.  Since then most of the people I got to now in cyberspace at wptfan migrated to dbpoker and wptfan basically became a graveyard.  It has started to make a semi revival, but I doubt it will ever be like the good ol’ days.  Andy comes across as a very nice and down to earth kind of guy.  The dude is a genious.  Ever heard of the MIT Blackjack Team?  Yeah, Bloch was one of them.  The guy is banned from playing blackjack in basically every casino around the world.  It’s a shame he couldn’t take down the bracelet, but I’ve seen Nenad play quite a bit and he is also a great player who deserves the win.  What a final table it was though.  Pauly at Tao of Poker said it best…

“The first event of the 2008 WSOP was pro-heavy since it was the $10,000 PLH World Champion event. The field of 352 runners arrived on Friday ready to kick off the highly anticipated WSOP. The final table was finally set early on Sunday morning and it was a deep final table… one of the deepest non-50K HORSE final tables that I had seen in a long time at the WSOP.

Mike Sexton. Patrik Antonius. Andy Bloch. Kathy Liebert. The Unabomber. Chris Bell. SowersUNCC. amak316. Nenad Medic.”

He also said there was an Eskimo Clark and Vinnie Vinh sighting.  It’s good to know that both of these dudes are still alive considering they both were nearly dead at last years event.  I wonder if you can get some action on if either of them make it to the end of this years WSOP.   There’s also a rumor that there is a side bet between Phil Ivey and some unknown degenerate that Phil or Allen Cunningham will win a bracelet this year.  Stay tuned and I wouldn’t bet against these two, that’s for sure.

I played in a men’s basketball league tonight for the first time since snapping my achilles nearly 2 years ago.  I’ve played a few times over the last year during and after my initial rehab, but nothing serious like tonight.  Now you have to remember that anything over 35 I consider pretty old for a basketball player and when the average age on our team is nearing the four oh number and the team we played against was probably closer to 25, the fact that we came from 12 down in the second half to win 58-56 and it was our first game together I am very very happy.   The fact that I probably won’t be able to roll out of bed tomorrow without being in some serious pain is besides the point.   Extra shot of MonaVie for me tonight!  Meh, it was good to get back on the court.  Lord knows I need to do something physical other than coaching 3rd base for my 9 year olds little league team.  Little side note…. My wife is waiting downstairs for me with a nice bottle of cabernet, the first glass of which I’m drinking while I write this.  See what I sacrifice for the millions of readers I don’t have?

Ok, on to those wild and wacky democratic candidates for President.  I don’t know how, but Hillary is planning on making some sort of exit from this race after tomorrow’s final primaries.  No, she hasn’t said this yet, but she has to be right???  Now remember, the super delegates… by the way, who gave them this name?  Do they all get together at the Justice League of America and decide who’s gonna get to carry the ball for their team?  Anyway, the super delegates don’t actually place their votes until the convention, but they are throwing their support behind a certain canidate now.  So the question is, does Hillary threaten the ones who support Obama up to the convention hoping to change their allegiance?  Would you put that past the Clinton machine?  I wouldn’t.  I honestly have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow, but unless she gets totally creamed tomorrow I see her hanging on as long as possible.  Why would she give up now?  It’s been over for a while hasn’t it?  Maybe not?  Well, for what it’s worth, the New York Times is saying they are expecting her to withdraw later in the week when it appears Obama’s victory is clear.  Wasn’t it clear a while ago?

Ok, that’s it for me.  I’m off to spend some QT, that’s quality time, with the wife.

Out!
