Alot can happen over a weekend
Well let’s start with the reason it’s been 3 or 4 days since my last post. I was at the lake over the weekend with the family and spent some time doing MonaVie stuff and on the water trying to throw 7, 8, 9, and 10 year olds of of ski tubes. Those little buggers can hold on I tell ya! Oh yeah… What happens when you drink too much really good wine and then decide to play some online poker at limits higher than you normally do? Take a wild guess. I dropped about $80 in probably 15 minutes on Friday night before going to bed. $40 on Full Tilt and another $40 or so on Absoulute Poker. I’d tell you what happened, but the specifics are a little fuzzy. I know I was playing Omaha on Full Tilt(I think) and I’m pretty sure I had KKxx preflop and we got them all in before we even saw a flop. It didn’t turn out well. I’m pretty sure it was a No Limit game over on Absolute. I’m sure I had a big draw or something exciting like that, but I really am not sure.
There were finally some exciting things happening at the WSOP over the weekend. Vinnie Vinh and his chair finished 3rd in the Limit Holdem event for a cash just shy of $100,000. From what Paulie over at Tao of Poker is saying, there were some pretty shady characters on the rail watching him the whole time. I have an odd feeling that most of it, if not all of it went to backers and/or debtors. Ah, the life of a degenerate poker player strung out on crack. Vinnie also got into a shouting match with one of the dealers when the dealer touched his chips. There is no doubt Vinnie was high on something and it wasn’t life. GG Vinnie and ncash anyway. Those are online poker terms for those of you stuck in the 90’s. GG=good game and ncash=nice cash. Some useless knowledge for ya.
Phillip Tom won a bracelet as well over the weekend. Who is Phillip Tom you ask? Well he has the honor of being the father of one of the accussed members of the Absolute Poker cheating scandal. Now this is not being reported on the mainstream poker news sites, but of course Paulie is all over it. I’m sure it’s all over the forums as well, but I haven’t had a chance to check any of them out. I got this thing called a job and they don’t like me reading blogs and poker sites all day. Dicks! For those of you not up to speed on the Absolute thing, Absolute Poker had a “super user” account that was able to see all the hole cards at the table. You can imagine what this would do for your game. Anyway, when you win a big buy in tourney by calling a river bluff with 10 high and beat 9 high then you might raise some red flags. Mr. Tom’s son was the proud user of said account and he was working for Absolute at the time. Pretty heavy duty black eye for the online poker business.
The $1,000 ladies no limit holdem event is also going on. I highly recommend going over to wicked chops poker and checking out some of the players. Wicked chops has a way of finding the right gals to snap photo’s of. Enjoy.
There is an interesting twist to this years main event at the WSOP as well. The final table will be postponed until November. They will play down to the final 9 and then they will take a few months off and come back to finish it. This allows for some interesting events to occur during this time. Amatuers getting coaching and learning to play against their opponents. Yes, all players will have the same chance, but I think an amateur will have a benefit against a pro whereas if it was held right away the pro definately has the big advantage. It’s also going to allow for the players to sign some major sponsorship deals. Big dollars will be a flyin! You know, I just thought of something. What if somebody dies? Interesting. I’m kinda torn about whether it’s a good or bad thing for the game. I’m sure there are positives and negatives to it, but I’ll be watching it no matter what.
So Obama and Hillary are all kissy kissy now huh? I didn’t follow this much over the weekend, but I did see that Obama was “praised and honored” to get Hillary’s support. What about Bills? For some reason I think Hillary gave that “support” kicking and screaming right up to the time the microphone and camera’s were turned on. I think reality is more like what happened at a news conference with former Clinton backer Rep. Yvette Clarke (D Brooklyn) and state Sen. Bill Perkins (D Harlem). They began talking over each other while trying to answer reporters questions. “Don’t tell me to behave. Don’t do that! Don’t do that to me!” Perkins chided Clarke after she told him to wait his turn. Do you really think the Democratic party can come together after the last few months of battle? They’re all sore losers. Republicans are lucky they have has much of a chance as they do. If it wasn’t for this ugly primary season the dem’s would probably walk away with this election. Even if Obama doesn’t have a non socialist position! McCain doesn’t know how lucky he is to have a fighting chance thanks to Hillary’s inability to see reality soon enough. I did hear a funny thing on the radio today. They were talking about McCain needing to get his teeth fixed and to get some cosmetic surgery on his face. Is this what we’ve come to? Help me Baby Jesus!
